Mobile Clinic
Dr. Serhii continued to conduct these mobile clinics after Radical Rescue’s team returned to the US. Many individuals and organizations in Europe and the US provided funds and equipment so that several used ambulances and vans could be purchased, then refurbished and outfitted, to create self-contained mobile medical suites. Within two months the Clinic’s team had created mobile OBGYN, Dental, Pharmacy, Lab, Ultrasound, and ENT/General Medicine/Cardiology units.
The mobile medical travels to cities and villages disabled by the war and under attack. Because all public transportation has been disrupted to these areas and is no longer available, this mobile clinic is a critical link for Ukrainians who remain. These residents have no way to reach a doctor or hospital. At best these communities have one, two or three unpredictable hours of power each day. This means their ability to prepare food, stay warm, wash clothes and utilize indoor bathroom facilities is severely impacted.
For the mobile clinic to remain in operation, the mobile suites require fuel to travel to these various desperate communities. Fuel is needed as well for the generators to power the mobile units lights and equipment once on-site. At times, the dedicated medical team of physicians, nurses, technicians, have used flashlights and even cell phones to illuminate their exam rooms, however during these times, no power means that crucial diagnostic equipment cannot operate leaving a major deficit in the care they can provide.
The mobile clinic and home-base clinic in Kiev have reduced their fee for service by 60% to make the care they provide affordable to Ukrainians. As not everyone can afford even this reduced fee, the clinic services are made available to even those who cannot pay. As a result, both clinics rely on the generosity of others to continue to provide medical and psychological care to those in need.
